The Cherryville Ironmen will take on the Burns Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cherryville barely beat Highland Tech the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Ironmen blew past the Rams 13-3 on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Ironmen considering their two-run performance the match before.
Brock Bumgardner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Cherryville let Chandler Wooten and Talon Dalton run wild. Wooten went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Dalton went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Wooten has posted since back in February. Parker Anderson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Cherryville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland Tech only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Burns made sure to put some runs up on the board against East Gaston on Wednesday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Warriors.
Cherryville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Burns, their win bumped their record up to 21-4.
Cherryville came out on top in a nail-biter against Burns in their previous meeting on Monday, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Ironmen have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
