Soccer Game Preview: Discovery vs. Lakeland

Discovery hasn't had much luck against Lakeland recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Discovery Spartans are taking a road trip to challenge the Lakeland Dreadnaughts at 7:00 p.m. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Discovery fell victim to Ridgeview Global Studies Academy and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 8-0 to the Explorers. That's two games in a row now that the Spartans have lost by exactly eight goals.

Meanwhile, Lakeland also failed to score in their most recent game. 2025 welcomed they with a 6-0 loss courtesy of George Jenkins on Monday.

Lakeland's loss dropped their record down to 6-5-1. As for Discovery, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-10-1.

Discovery suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Lakeland in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Can Discovery avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
