Baseball Recap: Turkeyfoot Valley Area Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Blacklick Valley, Turkeyfoot Valley Area was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Shanksville Stonycreek Vikings, sneaking past 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Vikings back in April, they had to take a 12-2 loss.

Bryce Nicholson made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Turkeyfoot Valley Area is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise. Nicholson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zack Ryan, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Turkeyfoot Valley Area: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

The victory got Turkeyfoot Valley Area back to even at 6-6. As for Shanksville Stonycreek, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
