Softball Game Preview: Eastern Montgomery Mustangs vs. Craig County Rockets

For the first time this season, Eastern Montgomery will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They are taking a road trip to challenge the Craig County Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastern Montgomery is looking for their season's first win.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Eastern Montgomery's offense. They came up short against Auburn on Wednesday, falling 12-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Mustangs were not able to get on the board.

Eastern Montgomery saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rena Chandler, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Chandler's first of the season.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Craig County made sure to put some runs up on the board against Bland County last Thursday. Craig County was the clear victor by a 23-5 margin over Bland County.

The victory got Craig County back to even at 1-1. As for Eastern Montgomery, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything went Eastern Montgomery's way against Craig County in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Eastern Montgomery made off with a 20-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastern Montgomery since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
