Basketball Game Preview: Tennyson Lancers vs. Mt. Eden Monarchs

Tennyson hasn't had much luck against Mt. Eden recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tennyson Lancers will square off against the Mt. Eden Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. Tennyson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season.

Tennyson is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against San Lorenzo on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Tennyson lost 70-45 to San Lorenzo. The Lancers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Matthew Lorje, who went 6 of 9 en route to 20 points. Another player making a difference was James Walker, who posted five points and 13 boards.

Meanwhile, Mt. Eden earned a 59-46 victory over San Lorenzo on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Monarchs.

This is the second loss in a row for Tennyson and nudges their season record down to 5-10. As for Mt. Eden, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-7.

Tennyson came up short against Mt. Eden in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 64-57. Can Tennyson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
