Soccer Recap: Alleghany Takes a Loss

Alleghany lost against East Surry back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Alleghany Trojans came up short against the East Surry Cardinals, falling 4-1. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 316th, while the Cardinals are ranked 45th).

Alleghany's goal came courtesy of Ana Vargas, who's now up to two this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Alleghany and nudges their season record down to 1-4-1. As for East Surry, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Looking ahead, Alleghany will be playing at home against North Stokes at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. This will be Alleghany's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for East Surry, they will venture away from home to take on North Wilkes at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in East Surry's favor is that they have posted at least four goals in their last three contests.
