Volleyball Preview: Putnam County Panthers vs. Marquette Crusaders

The Putnam County Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Marquette Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Putnam County is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road dating back to last season.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Putnam County finally turned things around against Earlville on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Red Raiders by a score of 2-0. That two set margin sets a new team best for the Panthers this season.

After all that action, the final score was 25-21, 25-12.

Meanwhile, Marquette entered their tilt with Somonauk on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Bobcats.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-19.

Marquette's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kealey Rick, who had two aces. Rick has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Ryan - Adair, who had 12 digs.

The victory got Putnam County back to even at 4-4. As for Marquette, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
