Basketball Recap: Stuart Find Success

Stuart lost to Neligh-Oakdale back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Stuart Broncos escaped with a win against the Neligh-Oakdale Warriors by the margin of a single free throw, 44-43. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Warriors are ranked 237th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bree Kester, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 11 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Kester a new career-high in rebounds. Rylee Tillema was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Stuart and bumps their season record up to 9-3. As for Neligh-Oakdale, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Stuart will host Chambers/Wheeler Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Neligh-Oakdale, they will square off against Wausa on Tuesday.
