 Herndon won the last time they faced Langley, and things went their way  on Thursday too. The Herndon Hornets narrowly escaped with a  win as the  team sidled past the Langley Saxons  2-1. Given Herndon's advantage  in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings  (they are ranked 35th, while Langley is ranked 92nd), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Herndon was led to victory by the tag-team duo of 
 Brendan Steiger and 
 Andy Hercules, who scored both of Herndon's goals.  The pair have combined for a total of five so far this season.
 Herndon has  been performing  well recently as they've  won five of their last six games,  which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record  this season. As for Langley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2-2.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Herndon will  face off against McLean at 7:15  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Langley, they will head out on the road to  square off against  Yorktown at 7:15  p.m.  on Tuesday.
