Preview: Mason Comets vs. Middletown Middies
Mason is 10-0 against Middletown since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Mason Comets will be playing at home against the Middletown Middies at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mason has seven straight victories, Middletown has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
In what's become a running theme this season, Mason gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. Everything went their way against Belleville as Mason made off with a 49-28 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Mason has posted since December 13, 2023.
Mason's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Yost, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Yost has scored all season. Madison Parrish was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Middletown suffered their biggest defeat since December 6, 2023 on Saturday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 51-25 walloping at the hands of Lakota East. While losing is never fun, Middletown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 396th, while Lakota East is ranked 68th).
Mason's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Middletown, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Mason against Middletown in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 63-36 win. Does Mason have another victory up their sleeve, or will Middletown turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
