St. Joseph Academy triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Angel Ochoa

Recap: St. Joseph Academy Crusaders vs. San Pasqual Golden Eagles

The St. Joseph Academy Crusaders won against the San Pasqual Golden Eagles last Friday with 64 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. St. Joseph Academy managed a 64-60 win over San Pasqual. Given St. Joseph Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 502nd, while San Pasqual is ranked 1067th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Angel Ochoa was his usual excellent self, scoring 40 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That makes it 17 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of St. Joseph Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Justice Ahiafor, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

San Pasqual lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Donovon Arnold, who scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Kohlmeier, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.

The victory was the fourth in a row for St. Joseph Academy, bringing their record for this year to 10-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for San Pasqual, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.

St. Joseph Academy will head out on the road to square off against Orange Glen at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Orange Glen has now lost 13 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 29. As for San Pasqual, they will be playing at home against Fallbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fallbrook is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
