Baseball Recap: Southwest EC Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Southwest EC ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Imperial Tigers 12-11. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won six in a row.

Jose Salcido made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Southwest EC got a big performance out of Brock London, who went 3-for-6 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs London has posted since back in February. Isaiah Aguilera was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Southwest EC kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive matchups.

Southwest EC's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Imperial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Southwest EC and Palo Verde Valley will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Imperial, they will face off against Brawley at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th.
