Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Astoria's Ninth in Last 11 Outings

Astoria lost to North Bend back in May of 2017, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Fishermen blew past the Bulldogs 18-3. The result was nothing new for the Fishermen, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Astoria is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for North Bend, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Astoria will take on Tillamook at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Bend, they will challenge Marshfield at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Pirates at the right time seeing as the Pirates are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
