Volleyball Recap: Roxana Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Roxana was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to the Southwestern Piasa Birds. The Shells were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Piasa Birds apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Roxana was not able to win a set, but it sure wasn't from a lack of trying: every set was decided by exactly two points. The final score came out to 26-24, 26-24.

Josie Brannon paced Roxana's offense, picking up seven kills. Brannon got some help from Daisy Daugherty and her 22 assists. Kylee Slayden controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Southwestern can attribute much of their success to Maci Timpe, who had 15 digs. That's the most digs Timpe has posted over her last three matchups.

Roxana's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Southwestern, their record now sits at 10-8-2.

Roxana didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Gibault Catholic on the 30th. As for Southwestern, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Hillsboro on the 2nd.
