Recap: Astoria Fishermen vs. Seaside Seagulls
The Astoria Fishermen's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Seaside, falling 42-7. Astoria lost against Seaside in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 28-0 score last time.
Ryder Jackson was on fire for Seaside: he rushed for 238 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Jackson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Another player making a difference was Kyler Mccleary, who gained 113 total yards and three touchdowns.
Astoria's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Seaside, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Astoria will take on Scappoose at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Scappoose presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Astoria in Oregon (Scappoose is ranked 24th, while Astoria is ranked 118th). As for Seaside, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against St. Helens at 7:00 p.m. St. Helens is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
