Basketball Recap: Calhoun County Comes Up Short

If Calhoun County was feeling good fresh off their 67-46 takedown of Horse Creek Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Calhoun County Saints fell 44-36 to the Allendale-Fairfax Tigers on Friday. The Saints were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 36-20.

Despite the loss, Calhoun County still got an impressive performance from Cassidy Pough, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. Pough is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Raniya Tyler, who posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals.

Calhoun County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Allendale-Fairfax, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calhoun County will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lake Marion at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Allendale-Fairfax and Williston-Elko will compete for holiday cheer at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
