Football Recap: Jeremy Mellalieu and Andrew Cordero Secure Win for Chaminade

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sierra Canyon, Chaminade was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Serra Cavaliers by a score of 37-27. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Cavaliers on their field since November 1, 2019.

A big part of Chaminade's win came down to the chemistry between Jeremy Mellalieu and his top target Andrew Cordero. Mellalieu threw for 180 yards and one touchdown while completing 81.8% of his passes while Cordero gained 119 total yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Mellalieu a new career-high in passer rating (152.7). Cameron Blackman handled things on the ground, rushing for 88 yards.

The victory got Chaminade back to even at 4-4. As for Serra, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chaminade will face off against Loyola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cubs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. As for Serra, they will square off against Notre Dame (SO) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
