Volleyball Recap: Centennial Eagles vs. Somerset College Prep Academy Spartans
After flying high against Okeechobee on Tuesday, Centennial came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the Somerset College Prep Academy Spartans by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Centennial sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 17-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-13.
Their offense was headlined by Ava Overstreet and Venice Spencer, who picked up 13 kills apiece. Overstreet really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 16. Finally, Noelle Edmond kept Centennial's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.
Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Coming up, Centennial will challenge Archbishop McCarthy at 1:20 p.m. on Friday. Somerset College Prep Academy will be paying especially close attention to the Eagles' game: after the Eagles face off against Central, they'll take on Somerset College Prep Academy again at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
