Hickory is 9-1 against Deep Creek since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Hawks will venture away from home to face off against the Hornets at 5:45 p.m. Hickory is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Hickory is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since April 10th on Tuesday. They lost 16-2 to Great Bridge. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Brayden Bachman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Deep Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They came up short against Lakeland, falling 10-4.

Deep Creek also got a good showing from Owen Hoertt, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the first time Hoertt hasn't allowed a single earned run since back in March.

At the plate, Tristin Mosley was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jagger Locking, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Hickory's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Deep Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.

Hickory took their win against Deep Creek when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
