Football Recap: Burbank Comes Up Short

Burbank was the 31-24 winner over Veterans Memorial when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs took a blow against the Patriots on Thursday, falling 51-20. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-6.

When it comes to explaining why Burbank lost, don't look at Roman Garcia. Despite the final result, he rushed for 67 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 200 yards on 12 of 24 attempts.

Even if they lost, Burbank's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Leading the way was Puka Uanitola-Olie with two. Another thorn in Veterans Memorial's side was Lance Trevino, who picked up a sack and made 17 total tackles.

Burbank's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Veterans Memorial, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burbank will challenge Luling at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Veterans Memorial, they will take on MacArthur at 7:00 p.m. on the 13th.
