It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Connellsville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Bethel Park Black Hawks 6-5. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered a 5-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kendal King spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on 11 hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Maggie Orndorff and Cali Leichliter did most of the damage at the plate: Orndorff went 2-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Leichliter went 3-for-5 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was Orndorff's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kalyn Cole, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Connellsville's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Bethel Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Connellsville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Black Hawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Monday.
