It was a Battle of the Birds when Silex took on Clopton on Tuesday. The Owls blew past the Hawks 11-1. The Owls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by nine runs or more this season.
Chase Mullen made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Johnson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Chase Vehige was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
