Baseball Recap: Bellevue West Triumphs

Bellevue West and Bellevue East faced off in a cross-town battle on Thursday. The Thunderbirds came out on top against the Chieftains by a score of 6-3. The victory continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their matchups with the Chieftains: they've now won five in a row.

Gage Schaeffer looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, CJ Shockey was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Drew Grego was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Bellevue West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bellevue East only posted an OBP of .345.

Bellevue West's record is now 12-4. As for Bellevue East, they dropped their record down to 9-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
