Baseball Recap: Neosho Makes It Five in a Row at Home

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Neosho ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Webb City Cardinals 3-2. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 7-6 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brody Crane made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and one run.

Crane wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alex Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Neosho pushed their record up to 20-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Webb City, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Neosho will square off against Carl Junction at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Webb City, they will face off against Marshfield at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
