Bishop Heelan Catholic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Iowa's top teams: Iowa City, who was ranked ninth at the time (Bishop Heelan Catholic was ranked 22nd). The Crusaders narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Little Hawks 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Crusaders have posted since May 29th.

Unity Christian hit Jefferson with a four-run seventh inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Yellowjackets came up short against the Knights, falling 10-4.

Garrett Denman put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in June of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Nate Anderson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.

Bishop Heelan Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 4-17.
