Football Recap: Maxwell Skates Past Quincy with Ease

Maxwell won the last time they faced Quincy and things went their way on Friday too. The Panthers blew past the Trojans 43-7. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 36 points or more this season.

Maxwell had a senior duo take command as Erik New rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry and Luke Pearson gained 110 total yards and two touchdowns. Pearson also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making three total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Levi Velasquez was in the mix as well, providing Maxwell with two TDs.

Maxwell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 265 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 182 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.

Maxwell didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Tanner Vierra, Pearson, and Colt Montgomery picked up one apiece. Montgomery has been hot, having also posted six or more total tackles the last five times he's played.

Maxwell's record now sits at 4-2. As for Quincy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Maxwell will face off against Los Molinos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.83 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Quincy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Williams at 7:30 p.m. on the 24th.
