Football Game Preview: KIPP Collegiate phoenix vs. Oakhaven Hawks

The KIPP Collegiate phoenix will head out to face off against the Oakhaven Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. KIPP Collegiate has given up an average of 29.1 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

KIPP Collegiate's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Memphis Central on Friday. They took a blow against the Warriors, falling 42-0. While losing is never fun, the phoenix can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 311th, while the Warriors are ranked 101st).

Meanwhile, Oakhaven hadn't done well against Westwood recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hawks never let the Longhorns get on the board and left with a 16-0 win.

The critical scores for Oakhaven came from Matthew Thomas and Jakavius Brown.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Oakhaven's defense and their seven sacks. Lequinton Montgomery led the group effort, picking up three of those sacks all by himself.

KIPP Collegiate has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Oakhaven, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

KIPP Collegiate skirted past Oakhaven 38-36 when the teams last played back in September of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for the phoenix since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
