Volleyball Recap: Allen's Loss Ends 13-Game Winning Streak at Home

After flying high against Princeton on Friday, Allen came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the Plano West Wolves by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Wolves since Tuesday.

Allen wouldn't go down easily and took Plano West into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-15, 15-8.

Despite the loss, Allen had strong showings from Campbell Sheffield, who had 13 digs and three assists, and Emily Capangpangan, who had seven digs and three aces.

Allen's defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 25-5. As for Plano West, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Allen and Plano West should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Allen (ranked third) will meet Prosper (ranked 119th) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Plano West will square off against Princeton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (14 vs. 613).
