West Jessamine posted their closest win since May 9, 2024 on Wednesday. They skirted past the Boyle County Rebels 6-5. This was payback for the Colts, who suffered a 3-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Ben Hershey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hershey was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Landon Davis looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Mavrick Napier, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Gabe Galus also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

West Jessamine's victory bumped their record up to 2-9-1. As for Boyle County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Looking ahead, West Jessamine will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Madison Central at 6:30 p.m. The timing isn't great for the Colts: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while the Indians have snatched up five consecutive wins on the road. As for Boyle County, they will challenge Sayre at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rebels 3.5, the Spartans 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
