Baseball Recap: Adams-Friendship Takes a Loss

Adams-Friendship extended their losing streak to 12 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-14 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wautoma Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 back in April.

As for Wautoma, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. The win made it back-to-back victories for they.

For Wautoma's part, Carson Rose made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave Rose a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Wautoma's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't).

Rose wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brady Abitz, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave Abitz a new career-high. Jake Smiley also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
