Baseball Game Preview: Waukegan Bulldogs vs. Mundelein Mustangs

For the second straight game, Waukegan will face off against Mundelein. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Waukegan has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Waukegan fell victim to Mundelein and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Mustangs, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bulldogs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Mundelein's part, Jax Medeiros and Sean Sanderson were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Medeiros pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sanderson struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. At the plate, Medeiros went 1-for-2 with one run and one double, while Sanderson went a perfect 1-for-1 with four RBI and one triple.

In other batting news, Mundelein got a massive performance out of Zach Perraud, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Perraud a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Morano, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Mundelein always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory was the third in a row for Mundelein, bringing their record up to 19-6-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Waukegan, they dropped their record down to 1-17 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
