Basketball Recap: Seneca Comes Up Short

Seneca was the 41-36 winner over Erie First Christian Academy when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Seneca Bobcats were outmatched by Erie First Christian Academy and fell 72-39. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Seneca's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Wettekin, who posted six points. Dalton Boyd was another key player, putting up ten points.

Even though they lost, Seneca was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Erie First Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Simon Gonzalez, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Gonzalez has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Blum, who put up 17 points.

Seneca's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Erie First Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Seneca wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-41 defeat against Oil City on the 18th. As for Erie First Christian Academy, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Iroquois at 8:30 p.m. on December 27th.
