Softball Game Preview: Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles vs. Greenbrier East Spartans

Woodrow Wilson is 1-9 against Greenbrier East since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Flying Eagles will face off against the Spartans at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Woodrow Wilson's last matchup with Nicholas County could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Wednesday. The Flying Eagles came up short against the Grizzlies, falling 17-0. The Flying Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Meanwhile, Greenbrier East came up short against James Monroe on Wednesday and fell 12-9.

Reagan Cline made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and two triples. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Woodrow Wilson now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Greenbrier East, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Woodrow Wilson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Greenbrier East struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Woodrow Wilson couldn't quite get it done against Greenbrier East in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Flying Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
