Basketball Recap: Lumberton Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Lumberton has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 59-52 to the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls on Monday.

Loss or not, Lumberton got some senior leadership from Christopher Hammonds and Amare Jones. Hammonds dropped a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Jones went 5-for-11 on his way to 14 points and three steals. Hammonds is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last four games he's played. Kameron Mathis was another key player, putting up eight points.

Leading E.E. Smith to victory were Nick Smith and Patrick Barber. Smith shot 70% from the field to rack up 19 points in addition to five boards and five steals, while Barber went 8-for-14 en route to 20 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jackson Williams, who posted ten points and four steals.

Lumberton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for E.E. Smith, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Lumberton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-51 victory against Scotland on the 17th. As for E.E. Smith, they are taking a road trip to challenge South View at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Bulls' defense better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 54.7 points per game this season.
