Basketball Recap: Beechcroft Takes a Loss

Beechcroft was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Linden-McKinley Panthers and fell 61-33. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 35-16 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Beechcroft still got an impressive performance from Sha?Mya Dukes, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine steals. Dukes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 13 games she's played.

Even though they lost, Beechcroft smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive games.

Beechcroft's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Linden-McKinley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.

Beechcroft didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-38 defeat against East on the 28th. Linden-McKinley has also already played their next matchup, a 50-49 loss against Dunbar on the 25th.
