Baseball Game Preview: Coronado Cougars vs. Las Vegas Wildcats

For the second straight game, Coronado will face off against Las Vegas. The Cougars will host the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Coronado's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Las Vegas on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Cougars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Las Vegas' part, not much got past JOSEPH PONTICELLO, who gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks to keep Coronado off the board. PONTICELLO has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Las Vegas' victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was TANNER VIBABUL, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits VIBABUL has posted since back in March.

Las Vegas' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Coronado, they moved to 9-16 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
