Baseball Recap: La Jolla Country Day Beats Classical Academy for Their Third Straight Victory

La Jolla Country Day had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Classical Academy on Wednesday. The Torreys were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Caimans. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Torreys considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Jackson Norum and Josh Rock did most of the damage at the plate: Norum went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Rock went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Rock has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Mitch Circuit, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: La Jolla Country Day kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.

The victory was the third in a row for La Jolla Country Day, bringing their record up to 14-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Classical Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-14.

La Jolla Country Day will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Caimans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
