Baseball Recap: Winnfield Has No Trouble Against Lakeside

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pineville, Winnfield was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 9-2 margin over the Lakeside Warriors. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jacob Whisonant made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in doubles.

In other batting news, Daniel Luke Page was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Aron Guerrero was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Winnfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 14.3 runs. Lakeside is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

Winnfield will have a chance to go back-to-back against Lakeside: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
