Baseball Recap: Camp Verde Takes a Loss

Camp Verde was the 13-3 winner over Scottsdale Preparatory Academy when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Cowboys fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gunner Selting put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Selting was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, Wyatt Mulcaire made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Camp Verde's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-9.

Camp Verde has already played their next matchup, a 15-0 victory against Red Rock on the 24th. As for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 4-1 loss against Scottsdale Christian Academy on the 24th.
