Baseball Game Preview: Ellet Orangemen vs. Ravenna Ravens

The Ellet Orangemen will take on the Ravenna Ravens at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Ellet's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Ravenna has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

While Ellet's win against East wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Orangemen had just enough and edged out the Dragons 6-4. The victory continues a trend for the Orangemen in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won four in a row.

Austin Roach was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keaton McKeel, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Ravenna challenged Field on Wednesday. The Ravens took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons.

Ravenna saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Hysell, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Ravenna's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Ellet, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Ravenna's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Ellet has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Ravenna, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Ellet keep running through batters, or will the Ravens buck the trend?
