Basketball Recap: Olu'shola Kemp Key Part of a Team Effort in Griffons Win

After losing to Jackson Preparatory & Early College the last time they met, Marshall Academy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Marshall Academy Griffons managed a 59-54 win over the Jackson Preparatory & Early College Falcons on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Griffons.

Marshall Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Olu'Shola Kemp led the charge by putting up seven points in addition to 15 rebounds and five blocks. What's more, Kemp also racked up three steals, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Delray White, who went 6 of 15 en route to 15 points.

When it comes to explaining why Jackson Preparatory & Early College lost, don't look at Donovan Myers. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine steals. Myers is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 19 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Oliver, who posted 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Marshall Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Jackson Preparatory & Early College, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-1.

Marshall Academy will face off against Battle Creek Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jackson Preparatory & Early College, they will host Rudolf Steiner at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jackson Preparatory & Early College is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.5 points per game this season.
