Softball Game Preview: Santa Barbara Dons vs. Ventura Cougars

Santa Barbara hasn't had much luck against Ventura recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Santa Barbara Dons will look to defend their home field against the Ventura Cougars at 3:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Santa Barbara lost 24-1 to Moorpark on Saturday. The Dons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Laila Hernandez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Ventura's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They came up short against Oak Park, falling 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cougars have suffered since April 19, 2024.

Ventura saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zayra Landeros, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Santa Barbara now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Ventura, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Santa Barbara might still be hurting after the 19-2 loss they got from Ventura in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Santa Barbara avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
