Basketball Game Preview: Glenelg Country Dragons vs. Loyola Blakefield Dons

Glenelg Country is 2-8 against Loyola Blakefield since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Glenelg Country Dragons will face off against the Loyola Blakefield Dons at 5:30 p.m. Loyola Blakefield took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Glenelg Country, who comes in off a win.

Glenelg Country's tournament run continued when they took on Trinity on Saturday. Glenelg Country came out on top against Trinity by a score of 53-41. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 18th in Maryland, while the Shamrocks are ranked 81st in Pennsylvania), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Loyola Blakefield lost to Bethel Academy on the road by a 73-54 margin on Saturday. The Dons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Glenelg Country will need focus on slowing down Terry Brooks, one of several Loyola Blakefield players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 20 points. Another player making a difference was Mason Ellison, who earned 19 points.

Glenelg Country's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Loyola Blakefield, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.

Things could have been worse for Glenelg Country, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 75-60 loss to Loyola Blakefield in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Glenelg Country avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
