Soccer Game Preview: Warwick vs. Washingtonville

The Warwick Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Washingtonville Wizards at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Warwick is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Cornwall Central just ended the team's seven-match winning streak on Thursday. They fell 2-0 to the Dragons. While losing is never fun, Warwick can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York soccer rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Cornwall Central are ranked 18th).

Meanwhile, Washingtonville lost 7-1 to Newburgh Free Academy on Tuesday.

Warwick's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-3. As for Washingtonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Warwick was able to grind out a solid win over Washingtonville in their previous meeting back in September, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
