Baseball Recap: Sedgwick County Triumphs

Sedgwick County proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Holyoke Dragons 5-3. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Tate Renquist was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Sedgwick County's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 4-15 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Sedgwick County let Leghion Glende and Korven Maga?a run wild. Glende went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Maga?a went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Maga?a is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Sedgwick County's record is now 6-16. As for Holyoke, they are on a 20-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-22.

As of now, neither Sedgwick County nor the Dragons have any future games scheduled.
