Softball Game Preview: Governor Mifflin Mustangs vs. Blue Mountain Eagles

The Governor Mifflin Mustangs will face off against the Blue Mountain Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Governor Mifflin came up short against Hamburg on Tuesday, falling 17-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Hawks: they've now lost four in a row.

Governor Mifflin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Grosch, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Blue Mountain had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against Selinsgrove on Saturday as Blue Mountain made off with a 14-4 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won 23 contests in a row dating back to last season.

Chloe Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carla Boyer, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Dashawna Vincent, who scored three runs and stole a base.

Blue Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Selinsgrove only posted a batting average of .227.
