Volleyball Recap: Utica Starts off Right with Win over Fredericktown

Utica had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Fredericktown Freddies with a sharp 3-0 win. The game was the first time the Redskins have beaten the Freddies on their court since August 17, 2019.

Utica didn't let Fredericktown take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-22, 27-25, 25-23.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Utica to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madison Yates, who had 14 digs and three assists. Another player making a difference was Jessi Paxton, who had 13 digs.

Coming up, Utica will square off against Watkins Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give the Redskins their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Fredericktown, they will face off against Clear Fork at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
