Volleyball Recap: Chaparral Falls Short Against Ranked Desert Oasis

Chaparral faced Desert Oasis in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cowboys took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Diamondbacks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Diamondbacks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in March.

Several Cowboys players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Pierce, who had 14 kills, 11 digs, and one block. Pierce has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 52 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Liam Bade, who had nine kills, two aces, and one block.

Chaparral's loss dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Desert Oasis, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-14.

Chaparral has already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Hurricane on the 19th. As for Desert Oasis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Basic on the 19th.
