Volleyball Game Preview: River Valley Mustangs vs. Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Lakers

The River Valley Mustangs will square off against the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Lakers on Saturday.

River Valley came up short against Buchanan on Monday, falling 3-0.

Meanwhile, Our Lady of the Lake Catholic came into Wednesday's match having lost 11 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Benton Harbor 3-0 on Wednesday. The Lakers not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 10th (when they won 3-0).

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Our Lady of the Lake Catholic was: they took every set by at least 16 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-5, 25-7, 25-9.

Our Lady of the Lake Catholic's win came from a few key players River Valley will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Allison Hemmerly, who had 23 assists and 15 aces. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in kills (three). Another player making a difference was Kaya Long, who had five aces.

Our Lady of the Lake Catholic was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 41 aces. They are 6-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

Our Lady of the Lake Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 8-17-1. As for River Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-9-5 record this season.
