Volleyball Recap: Puxico Takes a Loss

Puxico was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Oak Ridge Blue Jays. The Indians were not able to make up for their loss to the Blue Jays from their previous meeting back in September of 2021.

While Puxico was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Oak Ridge's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-19, 25-22.

Oak Ridge found their leader in sophomore Kenadie Ward, who had 29 assists and six digs. Ward has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more assists the last 25 times she's played.

Puxico's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Oak Ridge, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-3-1.

Looking ahead, Puxico will venture away from home to face off against Malden at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Oak Ridge, they will host Woodland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more sets each matchup than the last.
